According to new 2018 figures from CGA, pubs should be opting for “smaller, more focused” menus, taking inspiration from restaurants with overseas cuisine.
The fresh data found that there are more Indian Restaurants than any other type of restaurant/cuisine in the UK – with just under 6,000 in total. With Italian-themed restaurants, offering Pizza and Pasta dishes, closely following as the second most populous type of cuisine in the UK. And Chinese Restaurants in third place, with 2,447 outlets at present.
The figures illustrate the demand and positive impact of smaller, authentic menu selections. A more focused menu is proven to help drive repeat diners and a more authentic experience.
CGA Director, Graeme Loudon, added, “Creating a huge menu with a wide variation in cuisine styles doesn’t give the consumer confidence that the experience will be authentic”.
