Recent research conducted by UCC Coffee UK & Ireland found that the secret to attracting customers to your Pub is quality coffee – with over half of pub customers claiming they would not revisit if coffee on the menu was of poor quality.
It is thought that 44% of consumers would refuse to return to a pub if good coffee was not on offer, and 41% of those surveyed claimed they would drink more coffee if it was more often available on pub menus.
Research by UCC Coffee also concluded:
- 28% of consumers would visit a pub or bar for their morning coffee if pubs opened earlier, rather than a high-street coffee shop
- 63% of consumers believe that a high-quality cup of coffee at the end of a meal defines the difference between a good experience and a truly great one
- 31% of consumers order coffee instead of a dessert when eating out
Anthony Pender, Chairman of the British Institute of Innkeeping (BII), commented:
“For pub and bar operators looking to invest in their future, their business, and grow their customer base, coffee is a revenue generator like no other. The findings in this report highlight key opportunities that operators should pay attention to if they are going to take advantage of this revenue stream.”
With the UK embracing coffee culture, the demand for quality-sourced coffee is well and truly here to stay!
